View products System advantagesClosed cable management for sensitive fiber optic runs
The FDS fiber optic channel system separates, routes, and protects patch cords and fiber optic cables from building entry points to distribution units, racks, and technical areas. The closed design reduces mechanical stress and ensures a more predictable infrastructure.
- Minimum bend radius of 30 mm considered in the system
- PC+ABS-FR, PVC-free, halogen-free, and RoHS-compliant
- Flame retardancy according to UL 94 V-0
- Colors: yellow (RAL 1018) and black (RAL 9005)
For fast installation and future expansions
The integrated coupling and clamping design supports quick assembly of many components. The covers can be opened on one side, ensuring that cables remain easily accessible even later on.
- Tool-free installation of many channels and accessories
- No additional fasteners required for many system transitions
- Outlets and slack loops can be planned project-specifically
- Suitable for new routes and existing infrastructure expansions
Which channel size fits?
For B2B projects, having spare capacity is crucial. The system should cover current requirements and allow for later expansions without complete re-planning.
| Size | Shop entry | Typical use | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100x100 mm | Straight channels, outlets, elbows | Rack-side routing, smaller distributions | For targeted outlets and manageable cable volumes |
| 200x100 mm | Channels, couplers, trunking connections | Main routes with medium cable density | Good standard for growing technical rooms |
| 300x100 mm | Channels, T-fittings, crosses, mounting | Main routes with high patch cord density | More reserve for future network and rack expansions |

Further information about our fiber optic cable duct systems.
What is a fiber optic cable duct system used for?
The SAMM Fiber Ducting Solution (FDS) is a fully enclosed cable management system used to separate, route, and protect fiber optic cables and patch cords – from building entry points to fiber terminations and distribution facilities.
Thanks to the fully encompassing "wrap-around" system, fiber optic cables can be easily traced within the channels and remain conveniently accessible. Both straight channels and various curved sections are specifically designed to ensure the minimum bend radius of 30mm is not breached. At the same time, they protect fibers from snagging, crushing, and mechanical stress. The modular design of the system and the extensive selection of mounting kits enable project engineers to realize both current cable capacity requirements and future expansions using existing support structures or cable and equipment mounting systems. The flexibility and ease of use of our cable duct system ensure cost-efficient installations – for both new and existing cable routes in central offices, CEVs, head-ends, remote locations, data centers, and technical rooms.
Material and product compliance
RoHS compliance:
Compliant according to RoHS Directive (EU) 2015/863 amending Annex II of Directive 2011/65/EU
Flame retardancy: UL 94 V-0 material flammability classification
Halogen content: Halogen-free according to IEC 61249-2-21
Why should the channel size be planned with reserve capacity?
An under-dimensioned route causes additional costs later on. The system should accommodate current cable volumes while leaving space for future expansions.
